Ballater
sits at the junction of 3 routes each offering a journey through
some of Scotland's most inspiring scenery. Guests may arrive from
Perth and the south on the A93 through the majestic valley of
Glenshee, or from the north and the west on the A939 across the
high Cairngorm mountains via Tomintoul, or from Aberdeen and the
east on the A93 along Royal Deeside.
Aberdeen
has good rail and bus connections to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness
and London. There is a local bus service from Aberdeen to Ballater,
and in summer the Heather Hopper Service runs from Ballater to
Perth and Aviemore.
Walkers
and cyclists can arrive via one of the ancient drove roads or
old military roads which weave through the mountains from west
to east and north to south.
Superfast Ferries operate between Zeebrugge in Belgium and Rosyth,
near Edinburgh, offering a delightful arrival into the very heart
of Scotland.
Aberdeen
Airport has frequent daily flights to and from London, and there
are direct international connections to Amsterdam, Paris and Scandinavia.
Many guests also choose to fly to Glasgow and Edinburgh.
